Browns Ink Ben Watson

The Cleveland Browns signed TE Ben Watson to a 3 year, $12 million deal. Watson has played his entire career with the New England Patriots after being drafted in the first round out of Georgia.

While Watson has some issues with consistently catching the football, he is a major upgrade over Robert Royal who looked like a defender swatting away passes. Watson is an above average blocker and possesses good speed and athletic ability to stretch the defense. I am interested to see what the Browns will do with Evan Moore, who displayed some fantastic pass catching abilities, but was not asked to block. I expect that Moore will still be given the chance to play especially in some 2 tight end sets. Royal looks like he could be the odd man out, which I am OK with because his inability to catch "royally" pissed me off. (Get it?)
