Post Divisional Playoff Game Thoughts

After watching this weekend Divisional games, several things come to mind. For starters, it is clear that the Browns are not close to having the talent required to be playing in these sorts of games. Some very good teams got beat down pretty badly.

While the Browns have done a good job improving depth on the team under Mangini, the next step will be to really upgrade talent especially at playmaking positions. One of our biggest needs is the secondary. Watching Revis shut down a VERY good WR corps of the Chargers was incredible. Getting a shut-down corner has to be a high priority this offseason. Eric Wright has become a good player, but getting another top notch corner will do wonders and get Hank Poteat off the field/team. Looks like there will be some good corners in the draft's first couple rounds. More on that later.

Speaking of the secondary, we also are in need of a playmaking safety. Watching Ed Reed is amazing. He said after the game that he is 50-50 on retiring this year. Sad for the game, but good for the Browns!!! Although the second coming of Ed Reed is about to be out of our reach, more on Eric Berry later.

Also of note this weekend is what the Jets have done so far in these playoffs. While we watch the Colts, Saints and Vikings put on a rediculous aerial assalt, it is fun to watch the Jets pound the rock. A young talented O-line and a couple of good backs and you can win... we are closer to this than to any of the other 3 teams. But we NEED to address the RT position. St. Clair sucks. Speaking of sucking, Braylon Edwards is terrible and it makes me smile. More on this later.

In summary, the Browns have alot of work to do! We are far from being able to compete in these types of games... the good news? so is everyone else in our division at this point.

SUPERBOWL!!!!

  1. I disagree eric. The browns are only about 390 days from the superbowl, not that far off.
